STARTER PLANT FOR THE CRINUM AUGUSTUM, QUEEN EMMA, GIANT CRINUM LILY. NOT A TRUE LILY.

Family: Amaryllidaceae
Subfamily: Amaryllidoideae
Subtribe: Crininae
Genus: Crinum

YOUNG, HEALTHY STARTER PLANT -

PHOTOS ARE REPRESENTATIONS AND MAY OR MAY NOT BE THE ACTUAL PLANT YOU RECEIVE. ALL STARTER PLANTS ARE FROM THE SAME MOTHER AND ALL WILL BE APPROXIMATELY THE SAME SIZE.

NOTE - THIS IS THE GIANT OR GRAND CRINUM. IT CAN REACH FIVE TO SIX FEET TALL AND AS LARGE AROUND. IT LIKES FULL SUN, MEDIUM WATER AND WITH AGE CAN GET LARGE AND HEAVY. TROPICAL, LIKES SUN, WARMTH AND WATER.

HARDY, HEALTHY YOUNG PLANTS. MEDIUM TO DARK GREEN WITH BURGUNDY (PURPLE, MAGENTA) VARIEGATION.

PLEASE NOTE - PLANTS HAVE BEEN GROWN OUTDOORS AND MAY OR MAY NOT EXHIBIT NORMAL WEATHER/ENVIRONMENTAL BLEMISHES. A BLEMISH WILL NOT AFFECT THE GROWTH OF THE PLANT. THEY MAY EVEN HAVE A BUG BITE OR TWO WHICH ONLYS SHOWS THERE WERE NO HARMFUL CHEMICALS USED. BITES WILL NOT HARM THE GROWTH OF THE PLANT.

PLANT WILL SHIP THE FIRST OF THE WEEK TO AVOID A WEEKEND AT THE POST OFFICE.

THERE IS NO REFUND OR EXCHANGE - THE PLANTS WILL BE HEALTHY WHEN SHIPPED. THEY WILL BE SHIPPED BARE ROOT - NO POT AND NO SOIL. THEY WILL BE WRAPPED IN A MOIST MEDIUM AND PACKAGED IN A BOX TO PROTECT THEM.

CAN BE GROWN INSIDE OR OUTSIDE, IN CONTAINERS OR IN THE GROUND, BUT THEY DO BETTER IN THE GROUND. WITH AGE, THE PLANTS CAN BECOME VERY LARGE AND THEY DO NOT LIKE TO BE TRANSPLANTED WHEN OLDER.

PLANT CAN LIVE FOR DECADES. THE HARDY PLANT IS EASY TO CARE FOR .

I GROW THESE PLANTS IN ZONE 9B. PLEASE RESEARCH TO SEE HOW THE PLANTS MIGHT PERFORM IN YOUR AREA.

UPON ARRIVAL, REMOVE AND PLANT AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. DO NOT PUT PLANTS INTO DIRECT SUN. GIVE THE PLANTS TO ADJUST AND RECOVER FROM TRANSPLANT SHOCK IN A SHADED AREA.

SHIPS TO CONTIGUOUS USA ONLY = LOWER 48 STATES, EXLUDING CA/AZ.

THANK YOU AND HAPPY GARDENING.

Story of this Seed:

THIS IS A GREAT HAND ME DOWN PLANT THAT LIVES FOR DECADES. MY GRANDMOTHER USE TO SAY THAT EVERYTIME A CHILD WAS BORN IN THE FAMILY, THAT A CRINUM SHOULD BE PLANTED IN THEIR NAME.

THE PLANTS WERE CALLED HOMESTEAD LILIES BECAUSE THEY COULD BE PLANTED AROUND THE FARM AND DID NOT REQUIRE MAINTENANCE.

Growing Tips:

REMOVE THE PLANT FROM PACKAGING AND EITHER PLANT DIRECTLY INTO THE GROUND OR INTO A CONTAINER. IF USING A CONTAINER, USE AT LEASE A ONE GALLON SIZE SO THAT AS THE PLANT GROWS IT DOES NOT NEED TO BE REPOTTED AS OFTEN.

THIS IS NOT A "BOG" PLANT BUT IT DOES LIKE WATER SO DO NOT LET THE PLANT DRY OUT FOR EXTENDED PERIODS OF TIME.
