This is Dave Christensen, heirloom corn breeder. I developed Painted Mountain Corn 51 years ago. That is the corn from which Carol Deppe took most of her genetics.

I think that Calais flint is very valuable, and over the years I have been trying to encourage people maintain it so it doesn't lose what little genetic diversity it has; so it recovers it's cylindrical 8-rowed ears, and so the plant architecture doesn't keep going downhill.

The ears in your display are awesome! I might buy a pack from you to do a little cross-breeding with.
QUESTION: Are the ears in this photo typical, or did you exclude a large number of off-types?
I would very much like to talk to you on the phone. Give me a call.
