Latin Name: Capsicum annuum
Days to Maturity: 75 days
Description:
Prolific, sweet, tangy golden peppers that hold up well in the field. Fruits have a tapered shape, 5-7 inches long and 2.5 inches across at the top. Developed by Edmund Frost starting with Johnny’s Escamillo F1 Hybrid pepper, a variety that is popular with market growers. The goal was an open-pollinated pepper similar to Escamillo that could be stewarded and further adapted in the South. He asked his friends at Broadfork Farm to save seeds from their Carmen and Escamillo pepper plants – and then began selecting from the resulting populations (the Carmen-derived population has proven more difficult to work with). Thanks and appreciation to the plant breeders at Johnny’s Seeds. Grown at Twin Oaks Seed Farm. 120 seeds/gram.
