About the Farm

Peacemeal Farm was started in 2011. It is a diverse farmstead where in addition to producing seed we also raise chickens, goats, and cattle. Peacemeal is run by husband and wife team, Chris and Betsy, and began from our love of farming and working with nature.

Our Commitment to Quality Seed

Quality and pure seed is important to us. We limit the number of varieties we grow each year and take isolation distances and best practices seriously in order to produce pure seed season after season.

Our Growing Practices

We strive to grow as naturally as possible. The health of the soil is the foundation of our growing practices because we believe that produces healthy plants, seed, and food. We utilize organic practices although we are not certified. We desire crops that do well in this system with minimal need for intervention.

Our Seed Farming Experience

I've saved seed since I was a child, enjoying saving the seasons bounty of my favorite plants to grow again the next season. I became a contract grower and have been growing seeds for seed companies ever since 2015.

Regional Adaptation

We farm in zone 7a, our summers here in Central Virginia are hot and humid. We offer varieties that we enjoy ourselves and have performed well under our conditions.
