Story of this Seed:
(Brassica Olearacea Capitata)
80 Days, 65 Days from Transplant. A compact red cabbage with a blue cast, very cold hardy, suitable for northern growers. They're slightly oval shaped and tend to stand up on the stem, which could require hilling for support. This is a very early cabbage that prefers cool weather, best grown in early spring. It can be grown in the fall once the peak of summer has come off, but has a hard time germinating in the heat.
It stores well but not long. Although it's split resistant, it does need consistent water, especially in arid climates. Red Express is drought tolerant, but will get better size with regular watering. If it goes without water and then receives too much, it will split.
Germination 88 percent - Tested February 2020
Minimum 30 Seeds.
Growing Tips:
Cabbage likes rich soil, but it's best to make sure manure and compost have a long time to work in and rot well, at least a month or so. You want loose, black soil.
