Kostadinov Striated-(Capsicum annuum)-This is an Heirloom pepper from Bulgaria that has been grown by U.K. chile enthusiasts in home gardens for many years now. It has striated cracks also called corking on its skin surface. A closer look it appears that someone wrapped it up in white thread like a mummy! This appearance is found in other peppers like farmers Market Jalapeno and Vezena Piperka. It does not have a negative impact on the flavor. In Bulgaria it is dried to make a Paprika powder. It has a rich flavor but slightly sweet. The Kostadinov Striated peppers grow up to 6 inches long and just under an inch wide. They narrow down to a point and ripen from green to red. The Kostadinov Striated chile peppers are great for stir fry, sauces, pickling and powders. The Kostadinov Striated chile plants grow 2-3 feet tall.
